Leading Global provider of specialist technical services, Mader Group, has taken a different approach to attract and retain skilled tradespeople: giving employees sought-after flexibility and access to adventure through a global transfer program for overseas mining opportunities – and it works.

Since 2009, Mader Group has sent a significant number of tradespeople across the world, to the likes of Africa and Asia, and more recently, North America as it ramps up operations in both the United States and Canada.

Currently, Mader has 70 expats on the ground in Canada through its Global Pathways Initiative with another 30 in the visa process, set to embark on their journey over the coming months.

“We need to be able to give our people the options they want in their career.” Mader Group’s chief executive Justin Nuich said. “Whether it’s different mine sites, different equipment or different countries.”

With Mader’s workforce supporting customers in more than 500 locations globally, the coveted program stretches across four continents. Through internal transfers, employees can make the journey to North America to challenge their technical skills across multiple mine sites and customers before taking to the slopes and exploring endless natural attractions on their time off.
