Employment & Projects‘Trade Up’ is a tailored training scheme that gives experienced Light Vehicle and Road Transport Mechanics the opportunity to develop their skills and become a qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic.
The program allows particpants to kickstart their career and gain a foothold into the mining sector. Joining a global leader in equipment maintenance, our newly upskilled Dual Trade Mechanics will work alongside some of the biggest players in the industry, earning up to 100K!
Successful applicants will undergo a shortened-term apprenticeship starting with 10 weeks at TAFE before completing 15 months of on-the-job training across a variety of worksites.
The 18 month program combines classroom based learning and hands-on experience in a simulated training environment to best prepare you for diverse mining workspaces.
You’ll work with a number of Mader Group’s valued mining clients across a variety of worksites and regions. Gain exposure to a diverse range of earthmoving equipment including excavators, wheel loaders, graders and more, comprising all makes and models. A day in the life of a Mobile Plant Mechanic can vary greatly but you will enjoy servicing heavy equipment, diagnosing faults and conducting repairs. Maintenance often includes major component change outs involving engines, wheel ends, hydraulic pumps, transmissions, diffs and more!

To be eligible for consideration, applicants will need to have completed a Cert III & Trade Cert in Light Vehicle Mechanics and hold a minimum of 3 years post trade experience. Previous exposure to heavy machinery and site experience is advantageous but not essential. All applicants will be required to participate in a pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening and national police clearance.
