Mader Group are proud to have completed their first ‘Intro to Mining’ sessions for 2024!

Back by popular demand, the Mader team held their first session of the year last week, welcoming students from local high schools into the Mader Maintenance Centre.

Expert Mader personnel facilitated the sessions, leading with an interactive approach, giving students hands-on experience in a workshop environment.

Toby Bassett, the General Manager overseeing the Mader Maintenance Centre, said that the ‘Intro to Mining’ sessions are a fantastic opportunity for students to gain exposure to different career pathways in the mining industry.

“This program has evolved to immerse students in practical experiences, giving them insight into what a career in the industry would look like.” said Toby.

“While classroom sessions with our experienced team provide valuable industry knowledge, it’s the hands-on environment that truly gives students the best understanding of specific roles and helps them determine their future career aspirations.”

The students participated in a range of hands-on activities, from going through a service on a CAT 992 Wheel Loader, performing electrical diagnostics on a mine-spec Mader ute, and learning how to lift and move objects with a 5t crane.

The day ended with a quiz and fun team-building activities. Each student walked away with a certificate of completion, and a wealth of knowledge about different avenues into the industry.

Mader’s ‘Intro to Mining’ sessions are part of their wide-ranging Tools for Life CSR program which extends to empower our youth and provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
