To entice you a little more, we’ve put together a list of the coolest spots around Calgary so you can explore everything this beautiful city has to offer. We’ve also thrown in some cheeky food recs that our team swear by!
1. Visit Lake Louise
If you’re up for a road trip, you have to see the turquoise blue waters of Lake Louise. Just outside the town of Banff, Lake Louise is jam packed with outdoor adventure. You can spend the day hiking around the scenic lake, or canoe across the beautiful blue waters. If you’re brave enough, it’s also a pretty spectacular setting to get up early and watch the sunrise!2. Fish for trout at the Bow River
Calling all keen fishers, get your rods ready! The Bow River is one of the best fishing spots in Calgary, perfect for any avid fisher to visit. It can be fished year-round, but the best times are from mid-May to late-October, with trout being the most popular to reel in.3. The Calgary Stampede
The Calgary Stampede is MUST on your Calgary bucket list. It’s a ten-day long celebration, making it one of the greatest outdoor shows in the world. This real-life rodeo is a fun filled event with barrel-racing, bucking broncos and line-dancing cowboys. You won’t want to miss it!4. Hit the slopes at Sunshine Village Ski Resort
You can’t beat snowboarding in Canada, and Sunshine Village Ski Resort has some of the best slopes in the country! As soon as Winter rolls around, make your way to Sunshine Village and experience the epic snowboarding and endless adventure this place has to offer.5. Hike Johnston Canyon to Ink Pots
If you’re looking for a trek on your time off, the Johnston Canyon to Ink Pots hiking trail is one you’ll have to add to your list. A light 12km hike consisting of flowing water falls and bubbling springs, it’s the perfect day out!6. Tobiano Golf Course
For all you golf enthusiasts out there, Tobiano Golf Course is one you’ll want to have a putt at! This award-winning golf course is surrounded by wicked views of Kamloops Lake and mountainous landscapes, making it one of the best in the world.7. Hike Garibaldi Lake
This hiking trail isn’t for the faint hearted. The 18.2km trail will take you roughly six and a half hours, but the views are totally worth it!8. Watch a Calgary Flames hockey game
Hockey is a sport that is rich in Canadian culture, and their Calgary Flames hockey team is a game you’ll want to see. Whether you’re a fan of the sport or not, it’s sure to be a fun night out filled with good vibes, cold bevvies and great mates!9. See the Northern Lights
This natural phenomenon is something you won’t see anywhere else in the world. Winter is the luckiest season, so head North and seek higher ground if you want to catch a glimpse of this spectacle.10. Indulge in some of the city’s food
The food scene in Calgary is pretty amazing, you’re sure to find an awesome food spot every time you head out. For breakky, make sure you try the food at Park by Sidewalk Citizen, and for dinner, you’ll love Charcut Roast House!
